Your donations enable Alternatives to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Chicago youth every year through programs ranging from computer training to peer juries, substance abuse counseling to dance.

At Alternatives, we pride ourselves not only on the effectiveness of our programs, but on the efficiency with which we offer our crucial services to youth and families. Eighty-one cents of every dollar donated goes directly into program costs, so you know that your donation specifically impacts a young person's life.

What can your dollars do?

Your support makes a direct and immediate difference in the lives of young people and their families. Any gift of any amount is welcome and appreciated! Here are some examples of what your dollars can do:

• $50: healthy snacks for two weeks of Girl World programming
• $75: art supplies for one week of programming with pregnant teens
• $400: one month of tutoring services for 20 youth
• $5,000: enable an Alternatives therapist to work with a young person for one year
• $10,000: support five young people in successfully graduating from high school
• $20,000: send a team of young people into the community to create an anti-violence mural
• $50,000: convert Alternatives’ existing tech center into Interactive Multi-Media Lab
