Alternatives’ ReShape Chicago Solutions Challenge gives teams of young people the opportunity to shape solutions to address real issues, challenges, or opportunities that they face in their lives. (Re)Shape Chicago will culminate in a showcase dinner elevating the perspectives, insights, and creativity of Chicago’s youth.
Through the (Re)Shape Chicago Solutions Challenge, teams of young people (ages 14 to 18) will identify a real issue, challenge, or opportunity in their homes, school, or community and work together to develop a solution. The teams will be matched up with volunteers with relevant expertise who are able to support them in shaping their change-making solution.
Volunteers and young people will follow a design curriculum to help research, develop, refine, and present their change-making proposals.
Teams will work together for several weeks, shaping their proposal to present at the showcase dinner. Young people who participate will also have access to opportunities through partner companies including internships, company field trips, and job shadowing days.
The first annual dinner will take place on the evening of Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Chicago Teachers Union – 1901 W. Carroll Ave.
This event will feature youth presentations, dinner, drinks, and a silent auction. Cocktail or business attire recommended.
