Cellist Yo-Yo Ma visits Alternatives!

On December 12, 2011, Alternatives, Inc. was proud to partner with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to welcome guests including world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and musicians from the Civic Orchestra and Chicago Sinfonietta to our Uptown Youth Center.

During the amazing evening, offered free to members of the community, youth and their families, the audience witnessed performances by Alternatives' own Connect Force Breakers as well as youth from our partner organization, CircEsteem.

Yo-Yo Ma interviewed one of our Connect Force participants, discussing the need for safe places like Alternatives and opportunities for young people to explore their talents and abilities in positive, life-changing ways.

Whole Foods' One Dime at a Time program supports Alternatives

If you've attended recent events at Alternatives, you may have sampled some tasty treats provided by our friends at Whole Foods. The North Halsted store generously donated food, beverages and their time to support our programs.

We are thrilled to continue our partnership as Whole Foods' first 2012 One Dime at a Time partner. From now through March 31, customers using reusable shopping bags at all five City of Chicago Whole Foods stores can contribute their ten cent per bag credit to Alternatives!
