Girl World Spring Showcase & Celebration/Summer Registration

On June 22, Girl World will have a Spring Showcase and Celebration with Girl World Research Project, GW 2.0 and GW Leadership Development as the presenters.

There will be a photo-voice presentation by the younger girls ages 10-12, "Where Is The Love? Photography of Young Girls in Uptown". Through the eyes of girls: Presentation of photography to the story of violence, hope, power, culture and support in their community.

Girl World Search For A Summer Intern/Volunteer!

Girl World is currently seeking a new Intern/Volunteer for this upcoming Summer. This position is availble for volunteers ages 18 and over.

Girl World Community Meeting

Once a month Girl World has a meeting in celebration of the entire Girl World community.

The meetings are held at Alternatives on a selected day each month from 6-7 pm. Open to all girls involved in Girl World after-school programs.

Commuity Meetings include: games & surprises, achievement recognition, sisterhood & support, teen leadership and event announcement.

Girl World Leadership Development Begins

Girl World will be kicking off a new program called Leadership Development. Leadership Development is a program for pre-teen girls between the ages of 10-12. This is a space for girls to network and gain skills in public speaking, decision making, problem solving and gain confidence with other young people and adults.

Leadership Development will be every week on Wednesday from 3-5 pm at Alternatives.

Girl World Action Team Networking Event

Curious to know what the girls of Girl World Action Team have been working on all summer? Come check 'em out at their networking event on Tuesday, August 21 at Alternatives, Inc. from 5:30 - 6:30 pm!

Come meet this summer's GWAT grantees, hear about this summer's grant making process and view GWAT's Public Service Announcement about violence against women.

GDRP Final Presentation

Why do older men date younger women? That is the focus of this year's Girl Driven Research Project (GDRP). Come find out what they've discovered in their study!

On Thursday, May 31st from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the young women of GDRP will present their research methods and the results of their research into what factors make older men attracted to romantic relationships with younger women.

This is a free event and open to the community. The event will take place at Alternatives' Youth and Family Center, located at 4730 N. Sheridan.

GWLC Final Community Service Event - Street Harassment Awareness

Girl World Leadership Council (GWLC), a project of Girl World involving youth ages 10 to 14, will hold a Street Harassment Awareness Event on Saturday, May 19th from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Girl Movement 2012

This year, our theme is Girls Run the World!

Our youth leaders selected this theme and designed fun interactive games and activities that focus on girls’ goal setting for the future. Participants will explore positive choices and focus on their health and well being.

At Girl Movement, participants will be exposed to a variety of career options via a diverse selection of professional women from career fields including science, health, technology, law, education, the performing arts and more!
